Trendsetter Awards
Searcy was recognized for four projects in the 2023 Trendsetter City Awards, a program designed to honor cities putting unique programs into place to create strong communities.
Winner: Diversity & Inclusion
After seeing an increase in the Hispanic population, the city working with El Puente, held its first public cultural event celebrating Cinco de Mayo. The event featured a mercado, a parade with a procession of flags from all Spanish-speaking countries and food trucks.
Winner: Public-Works, Environmental & Green Management
City officials conducted a strategic plan with citizen feedback through public meetings and communitywide surveys to develop a 20-year master plan as a roadmap to improve development and quality of life. Ultimately, three master plans were created for parks, active transportation and infrastructure.
Honorable Mention: Education & Workforce Development
Robotics has gained widespread recognition as an effective hands-on way to get students interested in STEM fields. Searcy is a leader with robotics teams throughout several schools and became the host city for the FIRST Robotics Competition.

Thanks to a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, a new law enforcement training center utilizes the MILO Rank Theater program, offering an immersive, realistic training environment for the police department.
