Have you heard that Sears might be leaving its location at 600 S. University Ave.?
We don’t have all the details nailed down, but we understand that the property owner, Little Rock Medical Associates IV LLC, doesn’t want Sears Holdings Corp. of Hoffman Estates, Ill., there anymore.
Sears’ lease is good through Jan. 31, 2017. Little Rock Medical Associates also owns the nearby Doctors Building.
A representative for Little Rock Medical Associates referred calls to Jim Hathaway, founder and senior vice president of The Hathaway Group, a Little Rock commercial real estate firm.
Hathaway declined to comment on the lease.
“The details of their lease, by mutual agreement, are not something that we can discuss publicly, nor any negotiations that we might be having with them,” he said.
Sears, which has been in the 161,508-SF building since 1969, also didn’t directly address the issue. But it offered this email statement: “Sears will continue to serve our members and customers in Little Rock as we have in the past.”
