With all the talk of sexual harassment claims in the news, we decided to check the number of complaints from Arkansas on file with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
As in the nation as a whole, the number of sexual harassment charges has fallen in Arkansas for the last three federal fiscal years, dropping from 155 in the year that ended Sept. 30, 2009, to 124 for the most recent fiscal year.
But the percentage of men who are making claims is climbing.
In the year that ended last September, 20.2 percent of the claims were filed by men. In the previous fiscal year it was 16.5 percent.
Nationwide, only 16.3 percent of the complaints were filed by men during the 2011 fiscal year, roughly the same as the previous year.
