Shelley Simpson Named President At J.B. Hunt (Super Mover)

Shelley Simpson is the new president of J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. of Lowell.

In her new role, Simpson, who was elected by J.B. Hunt’s board of directors, will oversee all management duties and performance for all company business units, emerging technology, developing services and people and human resources.

The promotion is part of a new management structure for the company. John N. Roberts III will remain chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors, and Brad Hicks will continue to be president of Highway Services but will now also take on Simpson’s previous role as executive vice president of people. J.B. Hunt operates one of the largest company-owned fleets in North America and is ranked No. 311 on the Fortune 500 list.

After graduating from college, Simpson began working at J.B. Hunt as a customer service representative. She has worked at the company for 28 years, 15 of which have been in executive leadership roles. She most recently served as chief commercial officer and executive vice president of people and human resources, in addition to leading international services and corporate marketing. Before that, she was chief marketing officer and president of integrated capacity solutions. Simpson also led the strategic direction and launch of J.B. Hunt 360°, the company’s technology platform.

Simpson is a board member of Mercy Health Systems Northwest Arkansas and is a dean’s executive advisory board member for the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville’s Sam M. Walton College of Business. She is also a business advisory council leadership member for the Northwestern University Transportation Center.

Simpson graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1994, earning her Bachelor of Science in marketing and marketing management.
