Shepherd Back at Ouachita Baptist (Movers & Shakers)

Lewis Shepherd Jr. has been added to the executive leadership team as special assistant to the president at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, a position in which he will seek to advance racial diversity. This is Ouachita’s first time to have a full-time position devoted to the effort.

Shepherd has previously held senior leadership roles at Henderson State University focusing on student life, external relations and community engagement. He also previously served 29 years in a variety of roles at Ouachita.


Jennifer Yanhua Xie has secured a multiyear grant for $428,400 from the National Institutes of Health. Xie is an assistant professor for basic science at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. The grant will be used to study potential management and prevention of migraines using osteopathic manipulative treatment.
