Simmons Foods Announces $100M Expansion in Van Buren

1 min read

Simmons Foods of Siloam Springs said it would spend $100 million to expand its poultry production facility in Van Buren.

The project will create 100 jobs, said Joel Sappenfield, the president of Simmons Foods’ prepared foods division. The expansion will add 65,000 SF to the already existing facility and will increase annual production by approximately 100 million pounds.

Simmons Foods said the current facility produces 110 million pounds of poultry annually and employs 600. The company expects Nabholz Construction of Conway to begin work this month and have the expansion lines operational by the first quarter of 2023.

“This investment will create 100 new jobs, including highly skilled positions to support robotics and automation processes,” Sappenfield said. “The expansion will also support growth in the local economy and assist in meeting market demand for one of the fastest growing segments of the business — cooked products.”
