Slim Chickens HQ Relocating

2 min read

It’s only eight blocks but it’s still a big move for the fast-casual restaurant chain Slim Chickens of Fayetteville.

Tom Gordon, the CEO and founder of Slim Chickens, confirmed that he did, in fact, purchase the four-story 35,700-SF office building on East Millsap Road for $6.4 million. The building overlooks Fulbright Expressway in north Fayetteville and was once the prominent home of the Kutak Rock Law Firm.

Slim Chickens will occupy the top three floors of the building, about 26,370 SF. Gordon said he expects to move in in the fourth quarter of this year.

Kutak Rock moved to downtown Fayetteville earlier this year. Northwestern Mutual will remain on the ground floor of the building; Gordon said the plan is to re-lease the bottom floor if and when Northwestern Mutual leaves.

Slim Chickens, which has 231 locations, is headquartered currently farther north on Millsap in a 10,028-SF building. Gordon said Slim Chickens has 50 office employees in Fayetteville with another 20 or so remote workers.

“It’s a great place for our team members to work, and we want a great showplace for our prospective franchisees and partners that we do business with,” Gordon said. “This particular move really speaks to our growth in terms of our people, and we need to have space. We need our folks to have a great space to work.

“We are buying it to grow, too. We expect this to be our office for the long-term future and we will need more space every year.”

The seller of the building was Robert Bearden of Fort Smith. Bearden acquired the property for $5.75 million in 2014.
