Small Private Company: Jacy Daugherty

2 min read

Jacy Daugherty can’t remember a time when he wasn’t around construction. That comes from growing up around his father’s work as an engineer and his uncle’s work as an architect.

“Once I discovered I had an aptitude for construction, I went on to get my degree in construction management from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock,” Daugherty said.

Now with more than 20 years experience in construction, he leads Buffalo Builders as CEO. Headquartered in Little Rock with an office in Springdale, the firm provides general contracting, design-build, construction management and consulting services for a broad cross-section of commercial projects.

A sample of the company’s resume includes apartments in Texas, Tractor Supply stores in Florida, Crain Kia in Fayetteville and Gaskins on Emma steakhouse in Springdale, along with Bruckner’s Truck & Equipment in Van Buren.

“I would say that my greatest accomplishment has been building the team I have here at Buffalo Builders,” Daugherty said. “When starting the company, I recognized the potential for creating a strong, cohesive and highly skilled team that could drive our projects to success and elevate our company’s reputation in the industry.”

His mission: to provide exceptional service, value and quality to clients, partners and stakeholders while fostering a culture of integrity, innovation and collaboration within his team and organization.

Daugherty’s career includes a brief stint as a construction litigation attorney sandwiched between work as a project manager at Little Rock’s May Construction Co. and owner of JMD Construction Services.

“Ultimately, the desire to build and create was too strong, and so I put my law practice aside and returned to construction,” he said.

Access Schools and Arkansas Children’s Hospital are among his charitable endeavors.

“Some of our employees have children with special needs and learning disabilities, and so these are near and dear to all of us,” Daugherty said.
