The funeral home industry in central Arkansas is about to experience a major consolidation.
Smith Family Funeral Homes, which owns North Little Rock Funeral Home and others, will close Tuesday on the purchase of Little Rock Funeral Home from owner Brad Leggett, Whispers has learned.
The change of ownership was approved earlier this month by (deep breath) the State Board of Embalmers, Funeral Directors, Cemeteries & Burial Services, according to Alan McClain, who serves on the board by virtue of being the state insurance commissioner.
Smith Family also operates funeral homes in Sherwood, Benton, Beebe and Arkadelphia.
