Smith Family Funeral Homes Adds Conway Chapel

Smith Family Funeral Homes of Little Rock announced the acquisition of a ninth central Arkansas location June 27. It’s the former site of the Griffin Leggett Conway funeral home at 1751 Dave Ward Drive in Conway.

The growing company now has funeral homes in Arkadelphia, Benton, Glenwood, Hot Springs, Little Rock, North Little Rock, Sherwood, Beebe and Conway. The company disclosed no financial details about the acquisition.

But Jeff Smith, the company’s owner and president, said he was “ecstatic” to announce it.

“After years of searching for the perfect opportunity, it feels like a dream come true to finally

become a part of the Conway community and provide our compassionate care and exceptional service,” Smith said in a statement. The location is to be called Smith Family Funeral Homes Conway Chapel.

Jeff Smith’s grandfather, Clifford Smith, founded North Little Rock Funeral Home in 1955, and Clifford Smith’s son, John, took over as president in 1966. He sold the business to Jeff and his wife, Leslie, in 2010. Since then, the company has more than tripled its locations.
