Smith Family Funeral Homes President Jeff Smith, far left, and family
Smith Family Funeral Homes of North Little Rock has announced the purchase of two funeral homes in the Hot Springs area, continuing its strategy of growth by acquisition.
The company acquired Davis-Smith Funeral Home locations in Hot Springs and Glenwood, according to a news release. Owner Jeff Smith said former Davis-Smith owners Everett, Tony and Ladonna Smith are “staying on to help us as we merge two family legacies.”
“I’m thrilled to bring the two Smith families together so we can continue to provide the same level of service that folks in Hot Springs and Glenwood have come to expect thanks to the care that Davis-Smith Funeral Home has provided over the years,” Jeff Smith said in the release.
Financial terms of the deal were not included in the release.
Everett Smith, his son Tony, and Tony’s wife Ladonna had owned Davis-Smith Funeral Home since 1989, when the family purchased the Glenwood location from Marlin and Louise Davis.
Everett is a former ambulance driver who became a licensed funeral director in 1957. His son and daughter-in-law followed the same career path. The company expanded to Hot Springs in 2000.
Smith Family Funeral Homes, founded in 1955, has expanded from two locations in central Arkansas to eight since Jeff Smith purchased the family business in 2010.
In 2020, he also purchased American Home Life Insurance Co. of North Little Rock from his aunt, Anne Powell-Black, and renamed the business Cyrus Life Insurance.
