Fast-casual chain Smokin’ Oak Wood-Fired Pizza on Monday opened a location in Fayetteville featuring a self-pour taproom billed as the first of its kind in the state.
The 40-tap draft system has touch screens above the taps that provide information on each beverage and allow guests of legal drinking age to pour up to 12 ounces at a time, the restaurant said in a news release. A rotating selection of craft and domestic beers, wines and mixed drinks is available.
The location at 3959 N. Steele Blvd. is owned by So Good Restaurant Group LLC of Bentonville, led by Ben and Monica Roberts. They worked with the local government to pass new legislation allowing the use of self-pour beverage technology in the state, the release said.
The tap system was made by beverage technology firm iPourIt of Lake Forest, California. Ben Roberts said the system provides a novel experience for customers while generating extra revenue.
“We’ve worked hard to bring this technology to Arkansas for the past year, knowing that the benefits provided for both restaurant owners and customers will empower businesses to be successful in the years ahead,” he said in the release.
Smokin’ Oak’s menu offers 10-inch, individual-sized pizzas with variations ranging from a classic pie with sausage, pepperoni and onion to the “Smokey Donkey,” made with barbecue sauce, chicken and applewood bacon.
The restaurant says its made-to-order pizzas cook in as little as 90 seconds.
Smokin’ Oak also locations in Colorado, Florida, Nebraska and Texas in the works.
