Southern Bancorp Inc. of Little Rock said Thursday that it had hired Andrea Parnell as its new senior vice president and director of human resources.
In the role, Parnell will oversee the human resource functions for SBI, Southern Bancorp Bank, a wholly owned subsidiary of SBI; and Southern Bancorp Community Partners, a non-profit affiliate of SBI.
According to Southern, Parnell has nearly two decades of human resource management experience. Before joining Southern, she was the director of employee relations for Allied Wireless Communications Corp.
She also was the director of human resources and talent management for Alltel Communications Inc./Verizon Wireless Inc.
"A great majority of my career has been spent working for Fortune 500 companies," Parnell said in a news release. "I am grateful for those experiences, and inspired by the mission of Southern. I am excited to work with so many talented individuals in this new environment."
The hire comes after the company’s three-member human resources staff resigned earlier this year. The departures were among other personnel changes at Southern in recent months.
Tanya Wright, group president of SBI, announced the hire.
Parnell is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and the Central Arkansas Human Resources Association. She is also certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
