1 min read

Sparks Health System will mark its 125th anniversary on Friday with the grand opening of a newly renovated, 44,000-SF surgery area at Sparks Regional Medical Center’s Renaissance building in Fort Smith.

The surgery department now features 10 "smart" operating rooms, a new surgical sterilization system, modernized pre-op and patient recovery areas, new nursing stations and renovated waiting areas. A new bridge connects the surgery area with the hospital’s patient floors.

U.S Sen. John Boozeman, R-Ark., U.S. Rep. Steve Womack, R-Ark., and HMA President and CEO Gary Newsome are scheduled to attend the event, which runs from 6-8 p.m. in the main lobby of the hospital.
