Specialty Manufacturer Tate Plans Facility in Pocahontas

2 min read

Tate Inc. of Jessup, Maryland, a maker of raised access floors and provider of data center management solutions, plans to open a manufacturing facility in Pocahontas, the Arkansas Economic Development Commission announced in a news release.

The 420,000-SF facility will focus on fabricating steel frames for data centers. The company’s data center containment systems are designed to reduce hot spots, maximize the cooling potential of existing air conditioning equipment, and allow facilities to allocate more power for computing.

The Pocahontas project is expected to create 148 new jobs over the next five years. Tate plans to open the facility in the second half of 2025.

The privately held company’s total investment in the project wasn’t immediately disclosed.

“This move strengthens our commitment to delivering innovative solutions and supports our long-term growth,” Daniel Kennedy, Tate’s global president of cloud solutions and innovation, said in the release. “We are grateful for the strong local support as we begin this new chapter.”

Tate’s clients include the NFL, Boston Children’s Hospital and American Eagle Outfitters.

Arkansas competed with multiple states for the project, according to the AEDC. The facility will be the first of its kind in Arkansas.

“Tate is a global leader in its industry, and we’re proud that they selected Pocahontas to grow their business,” Clint O’Neal, executive director of AEDC, said in the release. “With an experienced workforce, a favorable business environment, and strong infrastructure, rural communities like Pocahontas offer an ideal home for thriving companies. Congratulations to the community of Pocahontas on a great economic development win.”

The state offered Tate the following incentives: the Tax Back program, which provides sales and use tax refunds on the purchase of building materials and taxable machinery; 10 years of the Create Rebate program, an annual cash rebate based on the number of jobs added by a company and targeted wages; and a Community Development Block Grant of up to $2 million.

Tate in November announced it would invest $14.9 million to establish a new manufacturing facility in Russell County, Virginia.
