Staff Changes At Little Rock Television Stations

2 min read

It seems to be the season for television news staff changes across Arkansas.

Two Little Rock newsrooms have added reporters to their rosters, and a promotions producer has left one station to join another in the capital city. Northwest Arkansas is also seeing several anchor changes.

At KATV-TV, Channel 7, News Director Nick Genty said the Little Rock station has hired Stacey Spivey to serve as a general assignment reporter. Spivey, who is originally from Benton, started last week.

Before coming to KATV, Spivey worked for two years at KETK-TV in Tyler, Texas, where she was an anchor and reporter. Spivey also interned with KATV in 2012, Genty said.

The station has also hired Matt Barnette as a promotions producer. Barnette was previously at KARK-TV, Channel 4, where he worked in a similar role.

Promotions Director Allan Snyder, who also made the move from KARK to KATV about six months ago, said Barnette will work primarily on promoting special report stories and on other promotional materials.

The newsroom at KARK and KLRT-TV, Channel 16, has seen its own staff shuffling in recent weeks.

News Director Austin Kellerman said in an email that Deedra Wilson will be leaving the station at the end of the month to move to the NBC affiliate in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Wilson joined the team in January 2012 and was most recently an anchor on KLRT’s Fox16 “Good Day.”

Kellerman said he’ll be adding another reporter to his newsroom. Victoria Price, who currently works at the Nexstar Broadcasting Group Inc. affiliate in Lubbock, Texas, will start at the station in early June.

Price graduated from Boston University in May 2013 and, according to her station biography, covered the Boston Marathon bombing and the London Olympics as a student.

Kellerman said that the station also plans to fill two more reporter positions.
