Star Bolt & Screw Founder Lauraetta McBride Edgar Dies at 81

Lauraetta McBride Edgar, founder of Star Bolt & Screw Co. of North Little Rock, died Jan. 24 at the age of 81.

Edgar was the daughter of Arthur and Laura Hayden McBride and was born in Prairie du Rocher, Ill.

She co-founded Star Bolt & Screw in 1973 with her husband of 41 years, Rayburn J. Edgar, who preceded her in death in 1988.

She is survived by her children Brenda Kent, Kathy Hayden Houle, Gail Clayton and Rick Edgar, as well as 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Edgar was an active businesswoman, and continued to work with her company until she died. In the 1990s, she was honored for her work as a businesswoman by the National Association of Women Business Owners and the Small Business Administration.

Visitation will be held at 5:30 p.m. and a rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at Christ the King Catholic Church in Little Rock.

A funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 28 at Christ the King Catholic Church.
Interment will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Belleville, Ill.
