State Systems Inc. of Memphis announced Thursday the acquisition of Dunk Fire and Security’s Conway operations.
The move is State Systems’ second acquisition in 2016 and fourth in the past 18 months. The privately owned companies did not disclose financial terms of the deal.
Dunk Fire and Security, based in Springdale, was founded in 2005 by Ken and Rose Dunk. It offers life and property protection services in the greater Little Rock and northwest Arkansas markets.
“I’m getting old. We have a very good team down there and state systems has been wanting to make acquisitions and we wanted to team up,” Ken Dunk said. “I think it’s really good for all the personnel that were down there.”
He said that Dunk Fire and Security has been focusing on growing its Springdale operation.
“I’ll just be honest – I’m just one guy and you don’t have enough capital sometimes in the construction market,” Ken Dunk said. “You do the work for 45 days and then you may get paid. You finish up one month and you don’t get paid for aother 25 or so days. You need to have quite a bit of capital in this business and it was tough to expand the Conway operation and this operation.”
State Systems Inc. said that, effective immediately, it will absorb the 16 Conway employees and assets and will begin servicing customers in Conway and surrounding areas. Ken Dunk continues to own and operate Dunk Fire and Security’s Springdale-based business.
“This acquisition allows us to grow our presence in the greater Little Rock area and bring new services to our customers there,” Bob McBride, CEO of State Systems, said in a news release. “We look forward to continued success in this region as we meet the fire protection and prevention needs of local businesses.”
State Systems opened a Little Rock office in October 2015.
