It looks like we’ll have to wait even longer before we learn the sentence of Stephen R. Walker, the former COO for Phoenix Renewable Energy of Hot Springs, who pleaded guilty to federal tax evasion in March 2011.
His sentencing date, originally set for May 17, was pushed back to June 29 in front of U.S. District Judge Robert Dawson.
And it’s been shoved back again.
The new date is for July 20 at 11 a.m. in U.S. District Court in Hot Springs. Nothing on the public record indicates the reason for the delay.
These days, Walker, 45, is spending his time in the jail in Garland County. He was picked up March 9 by the Garland County Sheriff’s Office on a probation violation.
In U.S. District Court, Walker is facing up to five years in federal prison on the charge of evasion of assessment. In 2005, Walker earned about $310,000 and owed nearly $90,000 in taxes, but he never filed a return, according to the indictment.
