Sunstar Insurance Group LLC of Memphis announced Tuesday its acquisition of the former Town & Country Insurance Agency in Jonesboro from Stephens Insurance Inc.
Sunstar is a regional insurance agency with offices in Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri and Kansas.
The Jonesboro firm will be renamed Sunstar Insurance Group of Arkansas, and it employs seven people.
The financial details of the transaction are not being disclosed, and the deal was closed on Tuesday.
“Our clients can still expect the same great service and family-oriented values we’ve offered for the past 50 years,” President and CEO Jim Agan said in a news release. “We’ve returned to our roots of being a strong community partner. The only thing that will change is the name on the door.”
Andrew Meadors, CEO of Sunstar in Arkansas, said in the company “perfectly aligns” with his firm’s values and goals.
“We will keep all employees in place and are excited about this burgeoning new market for us,” he said.
In September, Sunstar bought the property and casualty accounts and assets from the insurance affiliates of Simmons Bank. The firm gained major new areas of operations across Arkansas and Tennessee. The Arkansas agency group now has offices in Little Rock, Helena and Jonesboro.
Sunstar said it is the 73rd largest property and casualty insurance agency in the U.S., has more than $250 million in premiums placed on behalf of clients and employs 250 people.
