Rodney O. Parks has been named chairman of the Arkansas State Banking Board.
Background: Parks worked in the banking industry for 20 years before becoming director of development at Philander Smith College. He also founded Parks Professional Group, a public speaking and management consulting firm, in 2011.
Experience: Parks was appointed to a five-year term on the State Banking Board by Gov. Mike Beebe in 2009. He graduated from Arkansas Tech University in 1991 and was elected president of the school’s alumni association in 2003. He is a graduate of the 2007 Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Arkansas class and was recognized as one of Arkansas Business’ Forty Under Forty in 2007.
New Position: The Arkansas State Banking Board’s responsibilities include issuing charters and authorizations for new branches, as well as dealing with applications regarding ownership and structure of banks and bank holding companies. Parks will oversee all aspects of the board and its responsibilities. The State Banking Board also conducts investigations and hearings relating to its duties.
