Target Corp. bought 12 acres of undeveloped land in eastern Searcy on Friday for $2.7 million.
The Minneapolis retailer plans to build a store just north of Interstate 57, said Jose Colunga, broker, director of sales and property management for Dalrymple Commercial of Searcy.
The seller was Taylor Farms LLC of Searcy.
The store, which is projected to open in 2026, will be located next to the Academy Sports + Outdoors at 1405 Janet Dr.
It will be the first Target for the city of about 24,000 people in White County.
Colunga said the transaction had been in the works for about 18 months and was spearheaded by Stuart Dalrymple, the founder of the firm.
Kelley Commercial Partners of Little Rock represented Target in the transaction.
“We’re excited about Target Corp. investing in the city of Searcy,” Colunga said. “We’re happy to be a part of the process, and looking forward to a better shopping experience for Searcy.”
