Grant Hill Wants to Buy That Bookstore in Blytheville

1 min read

Looks like there’s light at the end of the tunnel for That Bookstore in Blytheville.

Owner Mary Gay Shipley put the shop up for sale in February and said she was planning to close if she didn’t find a buyer within a few months. Now, a buyer has been named: Grant Hill.

Hill, a 22-year-old Mountain Home resident, said he was working with Southern Bancorp and the Greater Blytheville Area Chamber of Commerce to secure the $35,000 needed to buy the business.

“I’ve always dreamed of buying a bookstore,” Hill said.

Shipley confirmed the purchase.

“We are getting to a contract and hope to be able to make an announcement soon,” she said in an email.

The closing was scheduled for this week, but Shipley later sent another email saying that the deal had been postponed for an unspecified amount of time.
