The Peacock Group of Little Rock won 15 of 21 communications industry awards Sept. 19 from the Arkansas Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
The Prism Award honors included the night’s top prize, the Bob Sells Best of Show award.
Denver Peacock, TPG’s founder, expressed pride in his team and their work.
“Receiving these prestigious awards, including the Bob Sells Best of Show Award for the second straight year, is a testament to the incredible impactful work of our clients,” Peacock said in a press release. “We are deeply grateful for their trust and partnership.”
The Sells Award went to TPG for its work in getting a documentary for the nonprofit Every Mother Counts, “Giving Birth in America: Arkansas,” a featured spot in the Bentonville Film Festival. TPG oversaw an event series in northwest Arkansas to spotlight Arkansas’ maternal health and mortality crisis.
Every Mother Counts of New York City, founded by Christy Turlington Burns, works to make childbirth safer. Its “Giving Birth in America” documentary series chose Arkansas for its second production in 2022.
TPG led a statewide initiative to promote the film’s world premiere, including a two-day launch tour in Little Rock and a two-part event series in northwest Arkansas to spotlight Arkansas’ maternal health and mortality crisis.
TPG bested two finalists for the award: Garver’s “Recruiting Fourth Graders for Engineering Careers” and UA Little Rock’s “Event Eclipses Expectations.”
The Sells Award is named for Bob Sells, the former Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. spokesman who founded the Sells Agency of Little Rock in 1990. His son and daughter, Mike Sells and Stacy Sells, followed in his career footsteps, and his granddaughter Allyson Pittman Gattin is TPG’s public relations director.
Little Rock agency mhp.si won three Prism Awards, and Ghidotti Communications of Little Rock took home two.
The PRSA chapter presented its Crystal Award to Lisa Van Hook, president and director of client services at The Communications Group of Little Rock. The award recognizes significant and continuous contributions to the PR profession and the PRSA. The 2023 Crystal Award recipient, Heide Harrell, presented the prize to Van Hook.
“This Crystal Award is not about me,” Van Hook said as she accepted the prize. “It’s about growing up, it’s about love and it’s about the incredible relationships of everyone who has supported me along the way.”
Fifty-six entries competed for awards this year, and members of San Antonio’s PRSA chapter judged them.
