Update, 8:51 a.m. Tuesday, July 12:
Alyse Eady of KTHV-TV, Channel 11, announced on her Facebook page late Monday that she is headed for Atlanta, America’s No. 9 TV market, after five years as an anchor of “THV This Morning.”
Arkansas Business reported Monday that Eady was leaving soon for a bigger television market.
The former Miss Arkansas and Fort Smith native told Arkansas Business on Tuesday that she can’t yet reveal which station she will be working for, but the job will be anchoring.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for me to work alongside and learn from top-notch journalists in Atlanta,” she said. “I’m sad to leave my family and friends, but the good thing about Atlanta is that everything is a direct flight away!
Her last day at Channel 11 will be July 29, she said.
“For more than five years, I’ve had the privilege of sharing the news with you on THV 11,” Eady’s Facebook post said. “Thank you for inviting me into your homes each day, and for trusting me to do the job I’ve loved so much.”
Eady, 28, was Miss Arkansas 2010 and runner-up in the Miss America Pageant of 2011. She is a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia. “You can take the girl out of Arkansas,” her post said, “but you can NEVER take Arkansas out of the girl!”

Word is spreading that Alyse Eady, the former Miss Arkansas and popular morning news anchor at Channel 11, is leaving Little Rock for a bigger market.
Tegna Inc., the media conglomerate that owns CBS affiliate KTHV-TV, has been advertising a “Morning Show Anchor” opening in Little Rock on its website, and Eady’s five-year contract is known to be up next month. News professionals around town have been speculating about Eady’s destination, with talk centering on New Orleans or Atlanta.
Atlanta, which ranks among America’s top 10 TV markets, would be a major step up for Eady, 28, who has been far more than a pretty face at Channel 11. “She’s a keeper,” one local TV news veteran said last week, noting Eady’s poise on the air and her easy way with viewers off camera.
A Fort Smith native, Eady was Miss Arkansas in 2010 and first runner-up to Nebraska’s Miss America Teresa Scanlan in 2011. She said in an email that it is too early for her to talk. “Still working through the details so nothing is official yet,” Eady wrote, asking for a few more days before revealing where she’s headed.
Eady, an honors graduate of Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia with a degree in communications, joined “THV11 This Morning” full time in August 2011, not long after her Miss America experience. Some Arkansas viewers are hoping she can throw her voice all the way to Atlanta or New Orleans: Eady’s variety performances in pageant talent competitions featured singing and ventriloquism.
