KTHV-TV, Channel 11, President and General Manager Michael Caplan announced Monday that Dave Parker will join the CBS affiliate as news director.
Parker, a native of Louisville, Ky., has spent the past 10 years as assistant news director at NBC-owned and operated WCAU in Philadelphia. He starts the job with KTHV this week.
Parker succeeds former news director Chuck Maulden, who had worked in the role since 2007. Arkansas Business reported Maulden’s impending departure in September. Maulden said in November that he had accepted the news director’s job at KOLR-TV, Channel 10, in Springfield, Mo.
In Philadelphia, Parker developed a national Emmy Award-winning investigative unit. Previously, Parker was assistant news director at WMAR in Baltimore and news director at WDSI in Chattanooga, Tenn. He started working in TV in 1982 while attending Murray State University in Murray, Ky. Early on in his career, Parker worked as a reporter at WHBQ, the Fox affiliate in Memphis, where he worked from 1990 to 1998.
“Dave brings a wealth of experience and understanding of the news business,” Caplan said in a news release. “His background, combined with his enthusiasm to provide news and information on all digital platforms, is a great fit for us at THV 11. Dave is a news veteran with over 30 years in the business.”
(Arkansas Business and KTHV have a news sharing agreement.)
