THV 11 News: Developer Shopping 800,000-SF Retail Center for Benton

1 min read

A Dallas developer is seeking tenants for a proposed 800,000-SF retail center called the Benton Town Center, according to a report from Arkansas Business news partner THV 11 News:

Mayor David Mattingly said a Dallas developer has signed an agreement with the landowner to recruit stores for the first phase of the Benton Town Center project, which will begin over the next year.

Mattingly said there are still a lot of I’s to dot and T’s to cross, but he gave THV 11 an idea of what the developer has in mind.

“Some of the main stuff they are talking about is like Michael’s — the gift and craft company — JC Penney, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and of course, around all that you would have the typical restaurants,” described Mattingly.

The mayor told the CBS affiliate that the developer behind the Benton Town Center is the same company behind Shackelford Crossings in Little Rock, a 278,000-SF center that includes JC Penney, Haverty’s and Copeland’s Famous New Orleans Restaurant and Bar.

The story comes as developers continue to prep a site at the northwest corner of Interstates 430 and 30 for the Gateway Town Center, developer Tommy Hodges’ latest commercial project, which will include the holy grail of the Little Rock retail scene, the Bass Pro Shops.

Update: Arkansas Business’ George Waldon does some digging and has an update right here.
