Tractor Supply Begins Work on $128M Distribution Center in Maumelle

Tractor Supply Co. of Brentwood, Tennessee, has started work on a massive new distribution center in Maumelle, the cost and size of which which has grown since the project was first announced in January.

The publicly traded company (Nasdaq: TSCO) said Tuesday that the project’s initial $100 million estimated price had risen to $128 million, while the size of the planned facility had increased by 300,000 SF to 1.2 million SF. 

Once completed, the facility will be Tractor Supply’s largest distribution center, servicing more than 300 of its stores and creating more than more than 500 jobs.

The facility at Champs Boulevard and Jackie Burnett Drive is expected to open in late 2023.

Hal Lawton, CEO of Tractor Supply, joined local and state officials for a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday morning. “This distribution center will be a vital link in our supply-chain strategy to better serve our existing stores and future growth in Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma and surrounding states,” he said, according to a news release.

The facility will include a rooftop solar array capable of providing all the electricity needed for its operations, according to the release. The system will save the equivalent of almost 4,700 tons of carbon per year, moving the company toward its operational goal of zero emissions by 2040.

“Tractor Supply is committed to a more sustainable future, and our investments in Maumelle support a positive impact on the environment,” Lawton said. “We are grateful for the strong support for this project at the local and state level and look forward to a being a great community partner.”

Secretary of Commerce Mike Preston and Maumelle Mayor Caleb Norris are among those who attended the groundreaking ceremony.

According to real estate records, Tractor Supply bought the 121-acre site for $2.5 million from HEA Properties LLC, led by Bryan Austin.

Tractor Supply currently operates 35 stores in Arkansas and 2,016 stores in total across 49 states.
