Jaimey Malone and Cliff Beckham of Trekker Logistics.
Trekker, a logistics company based in Caseyville, Illinois, is setting up shop in Fayetteville.
You may remember the name Trekker because it is where Cliff Beckham and Jaimey Malone landed after each left an executive position at USA Truck.
Technically, Beckham and Malone went to work at Earl L. Henderson Trucking of Caseyville, Illinois, but Henderson Trucking then bought Tennant Truck Lines of Colona, Illinois. The two companies are in the midst of rebranding as Trekker and will operate under that umbrella name.
Trekker opened an office in Fayetteville earlier this year at 1810 N. Crossover Road and moved all its customer service operations to the location. Malone, the company’s vice president of development, hired Cortney Parrott to be director of customer service at the location.
Malone said there is a staff of six in Fayetteville and he expects to expand to as many as 20 employees in the next 18 months.
This past month, Malone said Trekker hired Chris Glascoe, a former manager at USA Truck. Glascoe moved to the Fayetteville office to open a brokerage branch as Trekker’s vice president of logistics.
Brokerage is all the rage with transportation companies as a way to increase capacity through the use of available independent trucks and the like to move freight. Malone said Glascoe will spend up to six months establishing the Fayetteville branch before moving to open another one; Trekker wants to open up 2-3 brokerage branches a year.
