An enrollment center for TSA PreCheck, an expedited screening program for airline passengers from the Transportation Security Administration, is up and running at Clinton National Airport in Little Rock.
The program allows travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt and to keep their laptop and a 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in their carry-on suitcase without having to remove them at the checkpoint, according to a Friday press release.
The Little Rock Municipal Airport Commission, the airport’s governing body, is providing free enrollments to the first 100 applicants, which normally costs $85 for a five-year membership.
The PreCheck application process allows U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents to go through a pre-enrollment process online at www.TSA.gov and visit an application center to provide biographic information such as name, date of birth and address as well as fingerprints, valid ID and citizenship/immigration documentation.
Once approved, travelers will receive a Known Traveler Number and will have the opportunity to utilize PreCheck lanes at security checkpoints at more than 150 participating airports and on 11 major airlines: Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Hawaiian Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways and Virgin America.
Travelers must enter this number on each individual reservation, according to the release.
Clinton National will provide enrollments Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Walk-in appointments are honored on a first-come, first-served basis after those with appointments are processed. Passengers are encouraged to make an appointment through the TSA website to limit waiting time.
“The enrollment center is the latest effort in our focus to provide customers with the best airport experience,” said Ronald Mathieu, executive director of Clinton National. “We are very excited that passengers may now sign up here at their hometown airport, which we believe is more convenient and less stressful.”
The PreCheck enrollment center is located on the third level of the airport above the entrance to the Security Checkpoint.
