Tyson Appoints Les Baledge to Board

1 min read

Tyson Foods Inc. of Springdale appointed Les Baledge to its board of directors Friday.

Baledge, 62, is an attorney and served as the company’s general counsel from 1999 to 2004. He is the 13th member of the board of directors for Tyson, whose slate of officers was re-elected at the company’s shareholders meeting Feb. 6.

Baledge’s appointment comes after member Kevin McNamara was named vice chairman of the board. Board members for Tyson get an annual retainer of $105,000 and $160,000 in deferred stock awards, according to a proxy statement the company filed with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission in December.

“The extensive knowledge that Les has about our company combined with his valuable background in law, business and strategy, will benefit our continued growth efforts,” Chairman John Tyson said in a statement. “We’re excited to have his experience and perspective on the board.”
