1 min read

Tyson Foods Inc. of Springdale on Thursday named Dan Turton as senior vice president of global government affairs, effective June 29.

The publicly traded meat processor (NYSE: TSN) said Turton will be based in Washington, D.C. and lead worldwide government relations activities. He will report to Amy Tu, executive vice president and general counsel.

“Dan is well-respected across the political spectrum,” Tu said in a news release. “He brings nearly three decades of experience in government affairs and public policy to this role, including time spent working in corporate and government positions on Capitol Hill, in the White House, and with General Motors. I am confident that he will complement the strength of our existing team, enrich our perspective and further our dialogue with policymakers and other important stakeholders.”

Turton replaces Karen Knutson, who left Tyson to become vice president and general manager of government affairs at Chevron.

Turton most recently worked as a senior advisor to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Rules. Before that, he was vice president for North American public policy at General Motors. He also worked for Entergy Corp. and was deputy assistant to the president in the White House Office of Legislative Affairs during the Obama administration.
