Tyson Foods Inc. of Springdale began offering the COVID-19 vaccine to employees in Arkansas this week.
The company said the vaccinations will be free and given on site at Tyson Foods facilities in Arkansas, where approximately 20% of the company’s 119,915 U.S. employees work. Tyson Foods is also offering the free, on-site vaccinations at company facilities in Kansas and North Carolina.
The program is in partnership with Matrix Medical Network and the health departments in the three states. Food production workers are now eligible for the vaccine in those three states.
“We’ve been working with Matrix Medical and health department officials to prepare for this moment and we’re ready,” said Tom Brower, senior vice president of Health and Safety for Tyson Foods. “We’re pleased to offer our team members convenient access to the vaccine, and we appreciate state leaders recognizing the essential role they play in feeding the world.”
Tyson Foods said it expects many of its 24,000 Arkansas employees to be vaccinated at its Fayetteville facility and its Berry Street plant in Springdale. The company will also vaccinate workers at plants in Garden City, Kansas, and four facilities in North Carolina.
