Tyson Giving $200 Bonus to Fully Vaccinated Workers

1 min read

Tyson Foods Inc. of Springdale on Friday announced that it’s giving workers a $200 bonus for being fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The bonuses were announced as the company’s deadline for mandatory vaccination nears. The poultry, pork and beef giant is requiring all frontline workers in the U.S. to get vaccinated by Nov. 1, with exemptions for medical and religious reasons. Office workers must be vaccinated by Oct. 1.

In addition to the bonus, Tyson is giving out more than $6 million in sweepstakes to incentivize vaccinations, the company said in a news release. And beginning next year, fully vaccinated employees can earn up to 20 hours of paid sick leave per year.

Tyson has reported that more than 90,000 employees, or about 75% of its workforce, have received at least one vaccine dose.

Unvaccinated people are 29 times more likely than vaccinated people to be hospitalized with COVID-19, according to a U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study released last week.
