The University of Arkansas at Little Rock recently hosted Arkansas teachers for a professional development program to better help the educators prepare students for jobs in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math.
More than 20 middle school and high school teachers participated in the STRIVE training, an 18-day course that took place over the summer, UA Little Rock said in a news release.
During the program, teachers are exposed to different industries to learn how the skills they teach in classrooms relate to real-world jobs. The teachers learn how to incorporate their experiences into their classrooms. They also are exposed to different pedagogical approaches, such as science inquiry and problem-based learning, UA Little Rock said.
“STRIVE is always looking to support businesses, teachers, and students in all parts of the state,” Mark Baillie, program director, said in a statement.
An online information session for the 2024 program is scheduled 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Jan. 20, 2024. For more information visit https://ualr.edu/strive/.
