The University of Arkansas at Little Rock has selected Convention Sports & Leisure of Plano, Texas, to conduct feasibility study that will help the university determine whether it should add a football team and a marching band to its offerings.
The selection was made following a formal request for proposal process, and it must be approved by the Arkansas Legislative Council. If approved, the firm will begin the study later this fall. The anticipated completion date is spring 2018.
The study is expected to cost $125,000, a cost that will be divided among the city of Little Rock, UA Little Rock Athletics and the Arkansas Department of Parks & Tourism. The portion paid by the athletic department will come from private money, UA Little Rock said.
CSL is a collaborative effort involving CarrSports Consulting LLC, Heery Sports and The Grant Group. Three other companies submitted applications. Click here to see CSL’s application.
Its study will look at startup costs, annual costs, staffing, playing venue, facility construction and economic and enrollment impact.
