Ashok Subramanian, the dean and professor of business at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, has been hired to lead the business college at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith, with his appointment effective March 1.
Subramanian was hired as dean at UAFS following 10 years of academic leadership — three as a dean at BVU and seven as chair of the Information Systems Department at the University of Missouri–St. Louis.
As dean at BVU, Subramanian led the redesign of the business curriculum and was involved in fundraising and development efforts, including involvement in the latest $30 million capital campaign concluded in 2013.
Subramanian said in a news release that he looked forward “to leading this progressive, talented and ambitious team of faculty and staff to achieve their aspirations.”
“Dr. Subramanian is committed to the applied curriculum focus we have here at UAFS and will bring extensive business and academic experience to the college,” said Georgia Hale, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs. “He will bring leadership, focus and talent to one of our university’s most accomplished colleges.”
Subramanian earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Bombay in India. He received his master’s and doctorate degrees in business administration from the University of Houston.
