UALR College of Business Gets $50K Donation from Larry Wilson (Kudos)

Arkansas businesses receive recognition:

• Larry Wilson, chairman, president and CEO of First Arkansas Bank & Trust in Jacksonville, has donated $50,000 to an endowed fund in the College of Business at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Wilson’s gift to the Stephen Harrow Smith Endowed Dean’s Fund will be doubled with a match from the Donaghey Foundation, bringing the total value to $100,000.

• Sparks Health System and Summit Medical Center in Fort Smith were recently honored for excellence in advertising and public relations at the Arkansas Hospital Association’s annual meeting and trade show. Their marketing department won nine awards for efforts such as the hospital’s “Sparkles” newsletter and the print advertising for its Sandwich Seminars.

•  Harding University in Searcy announced that its Carr College of Nursing will offer a new Master of Science in nursing program in fall 2014. The degree would prepare students to be family nurse practitioners.

• Plato’s Closet in North Little Rock was recently recognized for achieving the Gold Star Standard for Plato’s Closet stores. A Plato’s store reaches the Gold Star Standard when it achieves a set of standards set forth by the franchisor during the evaluation process.
