Larry R. Dickerson, currently a professor at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, will be the new CEO of Lions World Services for the Blind.
Dickerson, 65, will replace Ramona Sangalli, who was dismissed by the board of directors in April after nine years as CEO. He was introduced at a press conference in the auditorium on the LWSB campus at 2811 Fair Park Blvd. in Little Rock.
Dickerson has master’s and doctoral degrees in rehabiliLtation counseling and, until last fall, was coordinator of UALR’s online master’s degree program in rehabilitation counseling, which he developed in 1999.
Roy Kumpe, the founder of Lion World Services, was a mentor to Dickerson in his work as director of the rehabilitation and continued education program at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in the mid-1970s, according to a news release.
"Larry has actually had a relationship with LWSB for many years. So he is no stranger to our organization," Carl Foreman, the board chairman who has been acting as interim CEO, said in the news release. "His extensive experience in rehabilitation services will serve him well as our new leader. He is well known and respected across the country in the field of rehabilitation education, which will be a great asset."
