UALR Vice Chancellor Bob Denman to Retire in March

2 min read

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock said Thursday that Bob Denman, vice chancellor for advancement, will retire in March.

UALR called Denman, who joined the university in 2001, “one of its most prolific fundraising and university relations leaders.”

“I have been blessed during my time at UALR with a wonderful staff, dedicated volunteers, and generous donors,” Denman said in a news release. “As we approach our next major fundraising initiative, the time is right for a new leader to come in and own the effort start to finish.”

The university said that in the 2014-15 fiscal year, Denman led a team that raised a record $32.4 million.

Denman was the architect of UALR’s first comprehensive fundraising campaign, raising a record $103.4 million. He also helped manage a $22.4 million donation from Jack Stephens, which funded construction of the Jack Stephens Center, and a $20.3 million donation from the Windgate Charitable Foundation, which will be used to build a new center for art and design.

Denman is a 1974 UALR graduate. He’s been president of the university’s alumni association and chairman of the Foundation Fund Board. In 1993, he won a UALR Alumni Association President’s Award.

Last year he served as UALR’s interim athletic director until it hired Chasse Conque.

Denman joined UALR in 2001 after a 26-year career in television station management. Denman had worked at Little Rock NBC affiliate KARK-TV, Channel 4, since 1975, except for a one-year stint at the city’s competing CBS affiliate, KTHV-TV, Channel 11.

Denman left KARK after working as station manager for about five months. Before that, he had been KARK’s general sales manager.
