UAMS and Washington Regional Partner on Residency Program in NWA

1 min read

UAMS and Washington Regional Medical Center have launched a new internal medical residency program that will bring eight new medical residents to northwest Arkansas each year.

The curriculum consists of clinical experiences at Washington Regional in Fayetteville, where residents will have access to every internal medicine subspecialty, a dedicated research-training curriculum and a comprehensive didactic curriculum.

The two medical institutions are actively recruiting for the first residency class, which will start in July 2023.

Residents will be trained in clinical reasoning, critical thinking, teaching, research and health care delivery to diverse and underserved populations in northwest Arkansas and the surrounding regions, the medical institutions said in a news release.

In preparation for the new residency class, Washington Regional has built a 6,000-SF suite for the residents and is building a 3,000-SF clinic.
