Baptist Health and UAMS on Thursday opened a cancer clinic and infusion center on the campus of Baptist Health Medical Center-Little Rock.
The UAMS Baptist Health Cancer Clinic-Little Rock will provide a wide range of treatment options for cancer patients, such as chemotherapy and a multidisciplinary approach to address all of a cancer patient’s health needs, according to a joint news release from Baptist Heath and UAMS.
The clinic will be staffed by hematology/oncology, gynecologic oncology, and neuro-oncology physicians from the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, as well as other oncology specialists, the news release said.
A 32-bay infusion center is scheduled to open in September at the clinic, located in the Hickingbotham Outpatient Center.
“Today marks the next step in our partnership with Baptist Health as we work together to expand access to the most advanced cancer care to every corner of our state,” UAMS Chancellor Dr. Cam Patterson, said in the Thursday news release. “Our vision is for Baptist Health patients to be able to receive the novel treatments provided by our UAMS cancer experts, including innovative clinical trials, at their Baptist Health clinic or hospital.”
Troy Wells, president and CEO of Baptist Health, said that both organizations realize that treating cancer is critical.
“That’s why we are committed to expanding cancer services and resources together so that Arkansans can receive the care they need as close to home as possible,” he said in the news release.
Baptist Health is the state’s largest hospital network and UAMS has Arkansas’ only teaching hospital.
