UAMS Dedicates 4-Story Addition to Reynolds Institute on Aging

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences dedicated four new floors atop the Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging Monday morning.

The 55,000-SF expansion will be dedicated to research and education. The addition of four new floors was made possible through a $33.4 million Donald W. Reynolds Foundation gift in 2009.

Joining UAMS chancellor Dan Rahn for the dedication ceremony were Fred Smith, chairman of the Reynolds Foundation; UA system president Don Bobbitt, and Jeanne Wei, executive director of the Reynolds Institute on Aging and a geriatrics professor in the UAMS College of Medicine.

"We are extremely grateful to the Reynolds Foundation for making this expansion possible and for believing in what UAMS is doing to help meet the needs of the state’s aging population," Rahn said in a news release.

International firm Perkins Eastman Architects, based in New York, designed the expansion with local assistance from Polk Stanley Wilcox. Nabholz Construction Services was the general contractor.
