The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences named two new leaders for various operations.

Brian Cotten has been named associate vice chancellor for campus operations. And Amanda George has been named associate vice chancellor for clinical finance and chief financial officer for Integrated Clinical Enterprise at UAMS.

Cotten is now the administrator for support services at the UAMS Medical Center, where he manages core hospital services including clinical engineering, patient transport, food and nutrition services, hospitality and building management. He has a staff of about 700 people and a $32 million budget.

“Brian has a long and successful history with UAMS,” said Bill Bowes, senior vice chancellor for finance and administration and chief financial officer. “His previous experience in managing the UAMS Medical Center, as well as his efforts in UAMS Campus Operations will serve him well in this new role.”

George previously served as service line administrator for the Medical Specialties service line and as administrator for the Department of Internal Medicine. Before joining UAMS, she was controller for ambulatory services for the East/Southeast division of Catholic Health Initiatives in Little Rock and assistant controller for St. Vincent Health System hospitals in North Little Rock and Morrilton.

“Amanda is uniquely qualified to serve in this role,” said Dr. Richard H. Turnage, senior vice chancellor for clinical programs and CEO for UAMS Medical Center. “Her experience in the College of Medicine and at the service line level, as well as her work at other institutions, provides insight into the budgeting process required to achieve our financial goals and support a balanced budget for the institution.”

UAMS is the state’s only health sciences university with has 2,834 students, 822 medical residents and six dental residents. It is the state’s largest public employer with more than 10,000 employees, including 1,200 physicians who work throughout the state.
