UAMS Professor the First Arkansan Appointed President of the American College of Physicians (Movers & Shakers)

Dr. Omar Atik of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock has been appointed president of the American College of Physicians of Philadelphia. He is the first Arkansan to hold the position.

Shashank Kraleti (UAMS)

Dr. Shashank Kraleti has been promoted to chair of the Department of Family & Preventive Medicine at UAMS. He will also hold the Dr. Algernon Sidney Garnett Chair in Family Medicine.

Emily Reams (Baptist Health)

Dr. Emily Reams has been hired at Baptist Health Family Clinic-Lonoke.

Daniel Decker (NARMC)

Dr. Daniel Decker has been hired by the North Arkansas Regional Medical Center of Harrison. His urology office opened June 19.

Jason Smith (OrthoArkansas)

Dr. Jason Smith has been hired as a spine surgeon with OrthoArkansas of Little Rock. He has more than 25 years of experience in orthopedic care.

Kimberly Walker has been hired as chief nursing officer at Baptist Health-North Little Rock. She has nearly 25 years of nursing experience. Additionally, Ian Stewart has been named associate vice president of hospital operations at Baptist Health Medical Center-Conway. He recently was assistant administrator at Prisma Health Baptist Easley Hospital of Easley, South Carolina.

Drew Higginbothom (Smith & Company Insurance)

Drew Higgenbothom has been elected president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Arkansas of North Little Rock. He currently serves as vice president of Smith & Co. Insurance of Forrest City.

Michelle Anderson (UAPTC)

Michelle Anderson has been selected as dean of students at the University of Arkansas-Pulaski Technical College of North Little Rock. The position is responsible for departments and activities related to student life, engagement and wellness.

Tim Carter (ATU)

Tim Carter has been named interim dean at the College of Education & Health at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville. He has been with ATU since 1998.

Ana Hunt

Ana Hunt has been selected as provost at the University of Arkansas-Pulaski Technical College. She has been with UA-Pulaski Tech since 2019, where she has served as interim chancellor and interim provost.

John Jackson

John Jackson has been appointed interim dean of the Arkansas Tech University College of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics. He has been with ATU since 2003.

John Kirk

John Kirk, professor of history at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, has been awarded the Gingles Award by the Arkansas Historical Association of Fayetteville. The award honors authors with the best manuscript article of any Arkansas history topic. Kirk investigated the criminal case of two African-American Arkansans who were executed for the alleged rape of a white woman in the 1930s.

John Lewis (UAPTC)

John Lewis has been appointed vice chancellor of enrollment management and student life at the University of Arkansas-Pulaski Technical College. He has been the dean of admissions and financial aid at the university since 2018.

Michelle Wiles (UAMS)

Michelle Wiles has been named vice chancellor of the Division of People & Culture at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. She had been interim vice chancellor since February.

Ann Clements and Adrienne Jones have been promoted at the Arkansas Humanities Council of Little Rock. Clements will serve as director of education. Jones will serve as associate director.

Tasha Flowers

Tasha Flowers has been appointed chief finance operating officer at ARORA of Little Rock. Flowers previously was the nonprofit’s director of finance and was promoted to director of finance and IT in 2022.

Betsy Robb (St. James United Methodist Church)

Betsy Robb has been hired as an executive director of finance and administration at St. James United Methodist Church of Little Rock. Prior to accepting this position with St. James, Robb was a controller at Park Hill Collection of Little Rock.

Kimberli Krutsch has been hired as a sales director at Visit Bentonville. Krutsch has more than two decades of experience in hospitality and accommodations in northwest Arkansas. Prior to joining Visit Bentonville, Krutsch was general manager of Staybridge Suites of Rogers.
