UCA to Seek Bids for Amphitheater

1 min read

The Board of Trustees of the University of Central Arkansas in Conway has approved designs for an outdoor amphitheater and should begin soliciting bids for the project by the end of February.

The estimated cost of constructing the facility is $268,000.

Mesa Landscape Architects Inc. of Little Rock created the amphitheater’s preliminary design.

The amphitheater would be built with an uncovered outdoor stage and concrete benches and grassy space for a total of 200 seats.

Students currently use the open grassy area proposed for the amphitheater, which is near the student center, for performing music.

When the space is converted to an amphitheater, it could be used for live music performances, outdoor classroom time, pep rallies and other events.

UCA Trustee Rush Harding III donated $112,500 toward the amphitheater.

The university’s Student Government Association, the campus housing office and the Board of Trustees together allocated $232,500. The SGA spearheaded the project.
