Unexpected Ally For Arts

1 min read

Entertainment isn’t hard to find in downtown Fort Smith. A trip around each corner brings a vibrant piece of art, courtesy of The Unexpected Project produced by the nonprofit 64.6 Downtown. With over 30 installments from artists such as Guido van Helten, Add Fuel and Bicicleta Sem Freio, The Unexpected promises free, accessible art, along with education programs for the state and the opportunity for a creative economy. A new piece is unveiled at The Unexpected’s annual art festival, with the ultimate goal of revitalizing the downtown area.

For those more into the music side of the arts, the Peacemaker Festival may be an attraction to the city. For two nights every summer, the volunteer-led Peacemaker team selects the best touring Blues, Rock, Americana and Country artists and brings them to the banks of the Arkansas River. The team donates the proceeds of the festival back to the community, with local charities, downtown development and the arts community the passions of the Peacemakers.
