Uniti Group Inc. of Little Rock has announced a deal with a “large global internet provider” to build out dark fiber connectivity to data centers in 12 cities.
Uniti did not disclose the customer or the value of the agreement. But Greg Ortyl, Uniti’s president of wholesale and strategic accounts, said the deal encompasses over 10,600 fiber strand miles, making it one of the largest in company history.
“This existing customer continues to demonstrate confidence in Uniti’s ability to deliver unique, end-to-end infrastructure solutions that meet their increasing bandwidth demands,” Ortyl said in a news release.
The agreement will connect several internet traffic aggregation points and key infrastructure hubs for Uniti’s unnamed customer.
The routes are:
- Houston to Jacksonville, Florida
- El Paso to San Antonio
- Indianapolis to Nashville
- Nashville to Atlanta
- Dallas to Beaumont, Texas
- Tallahassee to Tampa
- Miami to Tampa
Uniti expects to deliver the routes throughout 2023 and 2024.
The publicly traded company (Nasdaq: UNIT) said its national fiber network currently runs 134,000 route miles.
Uniti is scheduled to report fourth-quarter earnings on Feb. 24.
