Arkansas Urology of Little Rock is building a $6 million outpatient surgery center that is expected to open next October.
Arkansas Urology CEO E. Scot Davis said the urology practice needed to expand because it was running out of space. “The demand for urological services is increasing in this market,” Davis said. “Quite frankly, we can’t really take care of all the patients with the amount of space that we have.”
With seven locations in Arkansas, Arkansas Urology sees between 5,000 and 6,000 patients a month, a 10-15 percent increase from five years ago, he said.
Arkansas Urology treats patients with enlarged prostates, overactive bladders, prostate cancer and those with other urological conditions.
The single-story, 12,467-SF center will be built on Arkansas Urology’s central campus in Little Rock at 1300 Centerview Drive. The center will have two 450-SF operating rooms and four procedure rooms. The building also could be expanded later.
The cost of the building will be about $5 million, and another $1 million will be spent to furnish the space.
The project is being paid for by the physician owners as well as through a loan from IberiaBank of Lafayette, Louisiana.
Once the building is complete, Arkansas Urology will add between 15 and 20 positions, giving it about 175 employees.
Johnny Kincaid of Commercial Realty LLC of Little Rock is providing project development services. Danny Bennett of Clark Contractors LLC of Little Rock is the contractor. The architect is Laura Morrison of Morrison Architecture of Eureka Springs.
Davis said an official groundbreaking will be held later this year and will coincide with the practice’s 20th anniversary.
