Aviation revenue passenger-miles, a measurement of the volume of air passenger transportation, stood at 91.8 million in January in the United States, surpassing the pre-pandemic high of 91 million reached in December 2019.
Revenue passenger-miles are calculated by multiplying the number of paying passengers by the distance traveled. The chart reflects data from all U.S. air carrier domestic and international flights.
The data come from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis and the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
